ISSA Certified Master Trainer

About Me

"A personal trainer is an individual who has earned a certification that demonstrates they have achieved a level of competency for creating and delivering safe and effective exercise programs." -The International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA)

Though I played sports from elementary to high school, my fitness journey inside the gym didn't begin until halfway through high school. I began working out as a way to control symptoms of several chronic illnesses that had ailed me for years, and it quickly grew into a passionate hobby. As I worked my way out of high school and through the first half of my college career, I began working out more frequently and diving deeper into the industry. However, I, like so many, stumbled upon a lot of misinformation which lead to over-training, and a somewhat unhealthy relationship with diet and exercise. Coming out of an over-trained state, with lots of friends and family asking me for advice (I looked better than I felt), I decided to educate myself in a safer and more constructive way by becoming a certified trainer.

Between my personal experience and my education through the ISSA, I've come to believe firmly in the importance of sustainability. When it comes to working with clients, my goals are not rooted in short-term success, but in finding solutions that will carry them through all life's changes for years to come. I believe in looking at all the pieces of each individual and developing a program they can use and stick to for not just a longer life, but a better life, even after we're no longer working together.

In addition to the ISSA Master Certification, I have a BA in music, as well as experience as an actor and dancer. My love of- and involvement in- the arts motivated me to develop and include the "Fine Tune Fitness" package. Surrounded by performers, and being one myself, I know all too well that it can be just as demanding as any sport. I believe pursuing perfection in one's craft, and pursuit of wellness in one's life, can go hand-in-hand for a more balanced and in-tune performer.

The ISSA Master Certification includes a Personal Training Certification and 5+ "specialization" certifications. My specializations currently include: Exercise Therapy, Online Coaching, Strength & Conditioning, Group Exercise, and Nutrition.

*With the addition of the Specialist in Exercise Therapy Certification: I am qualified to work with special populations, individuals with chronic illnesses or other medical conditions, individuals recovering from injuries, and pre-op or post-op surgery patients. Medical clearance to exercise is mandatory for the safety of these individuals!*
